Yes, the Baseball Bulldogs, from the city of my birth (where they say, "Go Dogs!"), just happened to beat the pup dawgys from Athens in the College World Series last night on national television.

My neighbor is a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan—rabid. Both he and his wife wear the jerseys on game days, paint their faces, yell and scream at the TV, and just generally scare the wheezers out of the babies. Me, I’ve been trying to convert into a Falcons fan. Not a yelling and screaming fan. I realized a long time ago the winning team doesn't send me a check as a thank you for getting my emotions involved. So I just enjoy the game and hope to wear a hat one day saying "Champs". One day last fall the neighbor was really laying into me about our losing team and all of its trials (uh, excuse the pun). The neighbor is a couple of years younger than my oldest son and I remember what kind of a fan I was when I was his age. I was just as obnoxious. It’s all part of being a fan. He said through his jeering laughter things like, don’t you wish you could have a Super Bowl winning team? Wouldn’t you like to cheer on an exciting team? So I told him a little story that started with the classic line, “When I was your age…” It went something like this.
