What a great weekend it was. It is not often that you get to eat ribs and watch fireworks all on the same day. But that is exactly how we ended up our 4th of July.
Now, I enter a busy week of meetings along with a conference to attend. I'll be leading a music reading session for a couple of hundred ministers of music, and serving on a nominations committee, along with the various things regularly scheduled around the church. I said all that to say this, one can't properly go about the day unless one has gone about it with God. I want to encourage all of you who read Ode 17 to be sure to start the day off with some quiet time alone with God. It sure helps you...
... to keep everything in perspective.
While you are having your quiet time, I would request you mention the following prayer request . We have a team of students in South Africa, attempting to make a difference, and at the same time having their lives radically affected. This comes from Aaron Young, our Minister to Students:
From Aaron Young - Please be praying for the South Africa mission team. Pray that the seeds planted in the lives of the youth who attended this past weekend’s youth camp would bear much, much fruit. Pray that our students have inspired and challenged the youth who attended camp. Pray that our team would stay focused, encouraged, and effective. Pray for an attitude of selflessness to permeate our group’s attitudes. Pray that the experiences of this mission trip will change their hearts and perspectives forever. Pray that they will come home transformed!

Also, please keep in your prayers our 12 middle school students from Sugarloaf who left for a week-long SHIFT summer camp this morning with leaders Ryan & Ansley!
